If You Do One OTHER Thing In London This Week(end)

A Friday outing for our regular Tuesday slot in which we point you in the direction of other great happenings and events in our great city. A new exhibition, a gig, a museum, a pop-up-shop – the best of London within a few minutes of a London Walks walking tour.

A special weekend post for our regular Tuesday slot focuses on a great London-themed night at The Barbican this Sunday…

The Tyburn Tree

‘Dark but dashing’ The Guardian

London’s darkest stories form the inspiration for The Tyburn Tree, a chilling song cycle created by renowned singer Marc Almond and British saxophonist, composer and record producer John Harle. From the Tyburn gallows at Marble Arch to the drinking establishments frequented by Jack the ripper, Marc Almond tells the tales using original lyrics paired with words from poets William Blake and John Dee.

Harle, whose canon of work to date includes his O Mistress Mine for Elvis Costello and the theme to BBC1'sSilent Witness, has written new music with dashings of cabaret alongside electronic dance and contemporary classical to back the historically relevant and original quirky lyrics by Marc Almond.

The Barbican Hall

Tickets £15 – £25
